Very Specific Needs
Very Specific Needs
Since this list was posted Mike and Jean have been amazed at people's response. In two weeks God provided our motorbike, generator, public address system, a laptop, hand and power tool needs, plane tickets, and even a twenty foot shipping container. We are still seeking prayer and financial partners. Beyond that, here is a list of outstanding items we are seeking that will be valuable to us on the mission field:
Items to Send Ahead
These are items that we want to ship to the Philippines. Experience has taught us that these items would be better shipped from here than purchased there:
- We've got a seperate list of items we're asking for now that God has provided us with a shipping container. Be sure to check it out!
- Over-head Projectors: Three of them. They don't have to be new; they just need to work. We'd like one for each Bible college classroom. These would need to be available by mid-April so they can be shipped ahead of us.
- Tents: We do a lot of camps and training conferences. Often there is not enough space to house everyone. Tents would help with that. Used tents are okay.
To Buy in the Philippines
These are items we can't buy here and ship; we'll need to buy them in the Philippines.
- Lawn Mower: God has blessed us with two large pieces of land--Maranatha Bible College and Village of Hope. They grow a lot of grass! A lawn mower will literally add days of time every month. Price: Around $300.
Contact us if you would like to be a part of meeting any of these needs.
Items God Already Provided
- Hand Tools: We'll be doing a lot of building. Good quality tools are expensive or difficult to find in the Philippines. We're looking for an assortment of hammers, chisels, saws, and trowels. Used tools are okay.
- Power Tools: For bigger building projects we'd like to have the Ryobi Works set ($270 at Home Depot new, but used is fine), as well as a router, a router table, and the assortment of accessories that would be needed with them.
- Motor Bike: This is an absolute necessity for us. A car would be nice but there are many places in Bohol where you can only get there by bike (or foot). We are not allowed to ship a bike into the Philippines, so we would need to buy it there. Price: Around $1,200.
- Generator: Electricity isn't trustworthy anywhere in the Philippines, and in some places there is no electricity whatsoever, so we'd have to bring our own! This would be a great asset, especially on construction projects where there is no power connection yet and in ministry work in very rural areas. Price: Around $450.
- Sound Equipment: As we travel and teach a public-address system becomes vital. A strong, portable, sturdy system will cost us $500.
- A Laptop: And it wasn't even on our list!
